1 Percent helps pay for water infrastructure
Did you see the Gillette News Record article about how the 1% funds water infrastructure?
“When it comes to the city’s enterprise funds, the 1 Percent plays a unique role by keeping down costs and rates for customers.
The city uses the 1 Percent to pay for capital projects that would otherwise be have to be spent from the city’s general fund.
In other words, the 1 Percent supplements the enterprise funds in the maintenance and development of infrastructure in order to keep utility rates as low as possible, according to the city. Without the 1 Percent, each of the enterprise funds would be affected and would have serious impacts on customers.”
