“From 2014-2018, the county has spent about $10.5 million of the tax on its landfill operations, the most of any category. The tax helps the county with environmental compliance and also keeps tipping fees from skyrocketing.

At the North Landfill, the 1 Percent was used for the construction of new cells, where the trash is stored, and covering up old cells to prevent water from entering. It also has helped pay for infrastructure such as the access road and scale house”
